Frequently Asked Questions

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is ancient Chinese medicine that works with a system of meridians or superhighways on which energy (referred as Qi by the Chinese) travels. This "Qi" communicates with cells, muscles, nerves, organ systems, and the brain. When there is a blockage or imbalance in the meridian system it can cause illness or pain.

Chinese medicine is a natural remedy that is highly effective in relieving chronic and acute pain and balancing internal disorders and illnesses. The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as a highly effective therapy and it is now used in many hospitals and clinics in the U.S. and abroad.

What To Expect From Your Treatment

A fine, hair-like needle is inserted in an acupuncture point on the meridian to open up and clear the blockage, balancing the body, relieving the pain, and assisting the body and immune system in healing from illness, The body is like a circuit board and the point needled is the switch unblocking and balancing the Qi.

Often, several treatments are needed to stabilize and correct the imbalance. Depending on the case, herbal treatment is sometimes prescribed and used as a support.
